BC PST on Professional Services
- Effective October 1, 2026

We want to make you aware of a provincial tax change in British Columbia that will affect professional services provided in the province, including accounting, bookkeeping, tax, advisory, assurance and other accounting-related services.

Effective October 1, 2026, 7% Provincial Sales Tax (PST) will apply to professional services. These services were previously not subject to PST.

Unlike GST, PST is generally not recoverable through input tax credits. As a result, PST will be an additional cost of obtaining professional services for most businesses.

How will this affect your invoices?

Our professional fees are not changing as a result of this legislation. However, beginning October 1, 2026, we will apply 7% PST to invoices for services that are subject to the new rules.

The rules also include provisions for services that relate to multiple jurisdictions. Where applicable, we will assess the portion of our services that is subject to PST based on the circumstances of the engagement.

We will continue to monitor the Province's guidance and let you know if there are any significant changes that may affect you.

If you have any questions about how this change may affect your business, please contact us.
